Hi
Has anyone out there ever made their own karaoke discs or are you interested in helping to figure this out with me?
I HAVE recently been successful in creating a dozen reasonable karaoke files. (Tell ya how inna minnt.)
and now I need to have someone help me with how in the $#@&*? am I supposed to be able to put these onto a disc that is playable at the karaoke bar down the street?
Do I need to buy special CD+G discs?
Do I need a special CD+G recoriding drive?
WHERE DO I GET THESE?
I am sooooooo frustrated.
OK.
The "good news" is that the program I used is called Tricerasoft MBryo CD_G Creator - it cost $50.00 for online download. It's fast, easy and simple. You can get a free download limited-function version at www.tricerasoft.com - keep looking - i'll post the direct link if need be.
The BAD NEWS: pardon my impatience - but the technical help at tricerasoft SUCKS! It is NON-EXISTANT! Baicly because the guy who keeps responding doesnt understand english and doesnt know what customer support is. I already have intervention pending from PayPal. (Early October - if we dont resolve it then theyll step in.)
There are a couple glitchy things in the program that can easily be avoided or worked with, and it's good - but doesnt have ALL the bells and whistles, which I think is made up in the fact that it IS easy to use, cheap, and fast download.
I'll be happy to discuss any and all aspects of this further for anyone interested - trade karaoke files, etc...

Re: CREATING karaoke files: TECH-HEADS needed
Wed, September 26, 2007 - 10:41 AMSpike,
If your files that are created by this program are in either MP3+G or BIN file format, then you can burn the disks using the program CDRWIN, which you can download/purchase at www.goldenhawk.com/. The only thing is that you would need to have a CD burner that can read and burn the graphics tracks, which I believe GoldenHawk lists on their FAQ page. I've found that just about any Plextor brand burner (even the external, USB port models) can burn you CDGs. No special blank CDs are needed...they just recommend a quality maker (TDKs have worked fine for me). I know I have made plenty of themed compilation CDGs in the past for parties when I didn't feel like lugging every CDG with me, so I know from experience it works. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Re: CREATING karaoke files: TECH-HEADS needed
Mon, February 25, 2008 - 5:18 PMhey! i'm really just a karaoke nerd. :D
so: no you don't need special discs, regular CDRs will work (do NOT use CD-RW or colored discs)
you will need a drive that supports CD+G recording (called "interleave")
for a list of drives that work, click here:
www.kjams.com/wiki/Compatible_Drives
and you will need special software to burn. i'm only familiar with Macintosh, sorry. i know there are some programs on windows that will do it. my problem was i wanted to do the exact same thing, rip mix and burn on my mac, but no software existed, so i wrote some.
If you're a Mac head, then check out kJams, it'll do the whole rip mix and burn thing, and it's iTunes-easy.

also, if you want to actually author your own CD+G discs, you can sortof create new tracks with this too, check it out and post if you're interested:
